A Field of Dreamers

One idiot simply can't do everything necessary to field a car for 24HoL. No - it requires many, many idiots to create a $500 rust bucket worthy of the most pointless series in racing. Once the idea to enter this event was (ill)conceived (we're pretty sure it was Jancsi's idea - he drinks a lot) we immediately found out who our friends were. And in some cases we found out who was helping in hopes to see our demise.

Finding a car that would fit the rules and the spirit of the event was a bit of a challenge. But gaining access to parts, people, expertise, and experience has been surprisingly easy thanks to very generous people going out of their way. These folks have been amazingly helpful to us - and if you ever need one of their products or services, do yourself a favor and give them a shot at your business.

Meineke Car Care Center - Boca Raton - We had 80 feet of DOM tubing, and a vague idea what we were doing. What we didn't have was a tube bender - and Jaime the owner of our local Meineke didn't know us from 'Adam,' but a mutual friend from AMR Superbikes introduced us. Before you knew it - we had the Lemons car on a trailer - in Jaime's parking lot - running in and out of his shop bending pipe and staying out of his way.

First Place Wheels - Even if we drive a perfectly clean race - we plan on going through some rims and Tires. As soon as Mike, the owner/operator of First Place Wheels heard about our irrational plan to run the 24, he volunteered to help straightening crappy wheels, and wrapping rubber. Honestly he must have a lot of pity for us. Typically Mike only works on exotic livery around local dealers and regional race tracks. Our wheels won't look supercar worthy, but they'll be straight and balanced to handle.

Revan Racing - Van Collier is the owner of Revan Racing - and the Nations expert on squeezing every ounce of performance from the Shelby GT500 platform. We first started talking to Van to get his expertise about brakes that could withstand 24 hours of abuse from a bunch of knuckle-head wannabe racers. We got great advise from Van on how to set up the car - and before you knew it, we had even talked him into joining our team. Naturally, we apologized in advance for the performance potential of our P(os)51 entry.

Lube Lizard - Our team member Rich runs Lube Lizard - and specializes in being a know-it-all when it comes to anything pertaining to oil. He's insight has been invaluable to help give a tired 180,000 engine the slightest prayer of lasting an endurance event on the cheap. (We mentioned how cheap we are, right?)

SoloPerformance.com We have a team full of know-it-alls. Tire choices, brake pads, tuning tips - our geniuses are all full of it - ideas for creating the best performing car that is. But, when it came to all the safety gear we needed, we didn't have a clue. Thanks to 47CP from Corner-Carvers.com for setting us straight, and hooking us up with a great deal.

Mustang Lab - Mustanglab.com provided introductions to most of the team members and assisting vendors. Typically known for factory restoration and resto-mod Mustangs, this won't be the first heavy-breathing Fox to escape the secret laboratory.

Palm Beach Mustang Club - Misery loves company, and we'd be adrift without the help of many individuals from the greatest community car club EVER! PBMC is loaded with great members that love to race, modify, and show beautiful Mustangs - but even more important - this club is full of people that are eager to help anyone in a moment of need.
