Slow & Painful Progress

ME: "We'll get the guys together, probably only need 4-5 weekends, and we'll be testing the car by November 1st"
SKEPTIC on the PHONE: "Yeah, sounds good. What could go wrong?"

Lots of progress has been made, but we're all starting to feel like time is running out. To date, we have the suspension done, and the cage done (almost - need harness bar and seat support) but we just can't seem to 'finish' anything else.

  • Brakes: 90%, still need three little fittings and a prop-valve
  • Wiring: 10%, need to isolate unused circuits from main harness and tape off
  • Seat: 20%, we have the lower mount finished, need to fabricate plate that joins to seat rails
  • Theme: 5%, we scuffed up the car to shoot some paint on it - probably won't paint for two weeks

Oh, and we have to put the driveline in next weekend. LOL.
'Mustang' Matt pays considerable attention to detail. I'm certain we'll be the only Lemons entry with an engine bay painted to match the theme of the car.
But - we have finished a lot of small stuff.
Even though Brake-Items don't count against the build budget - let's face it, we're cheap. We couldn't source the appropriate sheet metal at the local box-store to make the brake duct plates, so that Mother named Necessity dictated improvisation. Voila! We like the "No Trespassing" so much, I don't think we'll paint over it.
We had enough sign material left over to cover the holes in the engine compartment. I absolutely love the letters that remain on the sign, "POS." We definitely won't paint over that.
